Day 6: Guten Morgen! We're off to Munich!
Unfortunately we were through with our time in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, but we enjoyed every minute of it! We will definitely be visiting that area again, Nicole said she would go parasailing next time as well! With much of our trip still ahead of us, we had a lot to look forward to! We had yet to visit Munich, Venice, Tuscany, Florence, Rome…Holy moly! We were still just getting started!
Matt knew of a wonderful lookout point on our way out of Switzerland that we stopped at, we sure were glad he did! We had a few minutes to take in the view, snap a few pictures and hop back on the bus. It seems small, but little moments like this one add up to show how much our bus driver is one of the group. He cares about our experience and goes above and beyond every day during the course of the tour.

It's time for lunch! How about a stop in Austria?
A short detour lead us to a lovely little area within Lindau, Austria. The group was oriented and provided a map of the area by Colleen. We were then given a couple hours to explore and grab something to eat before hopping back on the bus for the rest of the trip. We would recommend spending the 2 Euro to head up into the lighthouse. The winding staircase leads you to the very top, here you are able to take a look over beautiful Lake Constance and the city of Lindau! From there we walked the downtown shops and were able to easily find some great food! The visit was short, but we had plenty of time to stretch our legs and check out the area. We felt short stops like these are part of what separates Rick Steves' tours apart from the alternatives. A large group would have a hard time with jumping in and out of these smaller areas!
Next Stop: Munich!
After lunch and checking out the area, we hopped back on the bus for a ride over to our next tour destination, Munich! I had especially been looking forward to Germany, being a long time gear-head, I wanted to visit the home of BMW while we were there. We arrived to Munich in the afternoon, got our rooms and set out for a quick town orientation and some input on dinner ideas for the evening. The group split up from there, several of us chose to stop in at the Hofbrauhaus for their amazing food…okay, not particularly, but the beer and atmosphere was great!
We had a fun time with the group and had our first taste of room-temperature beer, it was great! While most head there for the beer, if you do eat, we'd recommend to leave your American service expectations at the door. They move pretty slow, they're extremely busy and probably have had their share of tourists..but who goes there for the food?! Sit back and enjoy one of the prized local hangouts of Munich!

We ended up the night with a short walk back to our hotel...I don't recall any of us stumbling back, so that was a good sign! :)
We were planning on heading to church before the group walking tour of Munich in the morning, off to see the Deutsches Museum and then set free for the evening!
